It’s that time of year again. Everyone’s back. Students are back in school. Congress is back in session. We’re back to marketing plans, product launches and communications strategies. This is serious business.

Remember when you were a kid and the first week of school meant wearing new clothes, using newly purchased supplies, finding your seat in class and meeting up with old friends? It was also a time when you shared stories of your summer adventures. Whether in grade school or high school or college, there was story after story to share.

Marketers are good storytellers. It’s our job. We’re not always good self-promoters. In the August edition of the DC Marketer (AMADC’s monthly eNewsletter), Note From the Board, I asked you to send us your feedback and to tell us your good news that we can share with our members and the larger marketing community. I’ll start with a few examples. I know one AMADC member who is in a new job because her volunteer efforts with AMADC led to a new skill set that helped her change careers earlier this year. I know two other AMADC members who landed several contracts over the summer. You know who you are and if you’re reading this, I encourage you to share details. The excitement and positive energy can be contagious.

Pat yourself on the back. You deserve it. Send us your stories and excellent marketing adventures. And then refer to them often.
