Do you remember the last time you shouted? Were you yelling at your kid? Shouting over music in your car? Reacting to a hysterical TikTok video? When it comes to diversity, equity, and inclusion, there’s no need to shout. Many voices can come together to say what needs to be said and do what needs to be done.

This month is Global Diversity Awareness Month, which highlights the positive impact diverse cultures have on society at large. More specifically, we know a diverse, equitable, and inclusive marketing community gives our members—as well as the companies, organizations, and audiences we reach—a special kind of strength. The kind needed to solve the problems society is tackling today.
AMADC’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Committee is committed to developing a community that is strong through its diversity. We were one of the first chapters to adopt the national AMA Chapter Pledge, and we stayed active in DEI initiatives at the national level over the past year. Within our chapter, the DEI Committee built a voice and presence on the board of directors, increased DEI awareness among our members, and continued to activate DEI efforts amongst the creative community in the D.C. metro area.
Now that our foundation is in place, we are committed to building on it so every member is empowered to find their voice. The only way we will get stronger—and have more influence—is if more voices unite around this work. There’s more than one way for you to get involved; below we have a few suggestions, and if you have others, please let us know!
- Join the DEI Committee. Email us at dei@amadc.org to find out what roles need to be filled.
- Do you already volunteer for AMADC? Mention our committee and refer people to us if they want to get involved.
- Join the conversation by sharing and commenting on our posts: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, or Instagram.
