What does it mean to be a Professional Certified Marketer®?

Becoming a Professional Certified Marketer® shows you’re serious about making an impact with your career. Flexible enough to fit your schedule, but rigorous enough to test your knowledge, the PCM® program is the way to show employers you’re equipped to take on modern marketing challenges.

The American Marketing Association (AMA)  currently offers two different PCM® tracks, each with its own specialty:

  • PCM® – Marketing Management
  • PCM® – Content Marketing

AMA has also partnered with the Digital Marketing Institute to offer:

  • Digital Marketing Pro program

Preparing for the Exam

  • Learn about the exam. Review the Body of Knowledge for each track to assess your readiness
  • Evaluate your skills. Try taking the free practice exam first to get a feel for the content and your readiness
  • Study for the exam. Prepare your own way or consider the AMA-approved Learning Path from LinkedIn Learning provided through Lynda.com (subscription required)
  • Take the exam. The exam is made up of 120 multiple-choice questions and will take about two hours to complete with the option of a 15-minute break halfway through. Answer 80% of the questions right and you’ll receive your AMA PCM®, Digital Marketing or AMA PCM®, Marketing Management certification (with more certification options in the pipeline!).

Don’t worry! You’ll have three attempts to pass the certification exam within one year of purchase.
