Looking forward to seeing you at an upcoming networker and don’t

a successful networker in Northern Virginia (at your request), led a Young

Hello AMADC!

It’s been an Outbranding Month!! We hit the ground running and introduced our new brand identity (BTW—How did you like the direct mail piece? Looking forward to seeing you at an upcoming networker and don’t forget to bring a friend on us!), we launched our Masters of Marketing Speaker Series featuring Andy Yost, CMO of Gannett, held a successful networker in Northern Virginia (at your request), led a Young Professional’s How-To Series on branding at LivingSocial, conducted a half day Board of Directors retreat, retooled our email communications to reflect our new identity, and made significant progress toward launching a completely updated and enhanced web experience in the coming months. Whew! Not bad in a month’s time, and we’re all pretty jazzed up that the Chapter finds itself on a positive and successful path!

So what’s next? Like I mentioned above, last month our Board met for a half-day, mid-year retreat. Together, we focused on collaboratively planning the remainder of the fiscal year, sharing important data points from teams and committees, identifying what’s working well, and importantly what’s not, and how we are going to work together to fix those things. We also reviewed the results from our most recent Membership Survey, which included terrific feedback and insights from a record number of respondents. Thank you for providing your input, which served as the cornerstone for key decisions made in our meeting. We created a long (but exciting!) to-do list that will serve as our playbook as we bridge this fiscal year into next

Also, this month we held our general election for Fiscal Year 2016–2017. I am looking forward to working as Immediate Past President alongside Regan Lamb who will serve as our incoming President, and Brent Hayhurst, who will serve in the role of President-Elect. Overall, there was very little turnover within the current leadership so we will be well poised to continue on our trajectory of success. We are very fortunate to have a solid group of talented people who are willing to give their time to lead and advance our Chapter.

In closing, this week Scott Morgan, of the Morgan Group, a communications expert and actor who had a hit series on HGTV called Dream Builders, joined to lead our How-To Series entitled The Art of the Pitch. Scott’s presentation was very well attended, and helped us figure out how to sell basically anything using an incredibly powerful formula. The group left informed, feeling great about selling their talents in a new way, and liked the fact that Scott did all of this in an hour-using no slides or visuals.

As we roar into March like a Lion, be on the lookout for more exciting things to come — this month’s networker will be at a very cool new spot in DC; we’re going to get some insights on how to do corporate social responsibility the right way. Don’t miss out on learning about what’s trending with millennials, and if you are part of our Young Professionals Group — get ready for a knock out social event!

Thanks for being a member of AMADC.

Happy Marketing!
