On behalf of the Board of Directors, welcome to the AMADC 2016–2017 fiscal year!
I am thrilled to have the privilege of serving as President of the DC experience of the American Marketing Association.
The AMADC is the third largest chapter of 79 AMA professional chapters spanning North America. Our chapter provides a localized experience within the larger AMA Community. Our goal is to bring your AMA membership to life by bringing you events and experiences that are personally and professionally enriching, rewarding and fun.
We are fortunate that our chapter is led by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, comprised of 17 Vice Presidents and by a 7-person executive committee. These dedicated professionals, along with their hard-working committees, are the crucial force behind everything we do. I encourage you to meet them, to reach out them and to get involved.
This past year, we developed targeted experiences to meet the needs of our diverse membership. We developed the District Current, a unique group within the AMADC membership that focuses on delivering relevant content and experiences to professionals in the early stages of their careers. We launched the CMO Leadership Circle, with the goal of providing our top-level marketing leaders with a resource to connect and share with powerful like-minded professionals. In a similar way, our programming teams focused on providing content that remained relevant, cutting edge and geared specifically to our membership. We are dedicated to continuing these efforts and growing upon them in the upcoming year. Watch out for new programing and exciting events!
We look forward to sharing with you our plan for the upcoming year, which is a continuation of what we have built together over the past year. We look forward to continuing to strengthen and grow the AMADC. We will maintain focus on increased member engagement and on driving home the value of membership to those in our marketing community. We will continue to deliver exciting, engaging, and varied programming. We will continue to create energy and buzz in the DC marketing community on an ongoing basis.
How can you get the most out of your AMADC membership? It all begins with you.
Attend and participate in AMADC events throughout the year. Join us at the fall All Member Meeting; come out to our How To Series Events, our Masters of Marketing events, our Special Interest Groups, our Networkers, and our Community Service Events; and participate in our soon to be launched Mentor program.
Assume a volunteer role in the chapter. Consider serving as a committee chair or volunteering for a specific event at least once each year.
Welcome new members—help each of them become an active part of the chapter quickly.
Read our monthly newsletter—the DC Marketer, listen to our 90 second updates, check out our newly designed website, and follow us on social media.
Expand your network and make rewarding connections by updating your profile in the AMADC Membership Directory.
Provide feedback and share thoughts about chapter activities whenever possible.
I look forward to meeting each of you personally, working with you and learning from you in the year ahead.
Happy Summer!
