I hope everyone is enjoying their summer and finding some time to unwind. While it seems to be impossible to completely “disconnect” these days, the summer months still tend to be our best opportunity to take advantage of some much needed downtime and spend extra time with family and friends.

While the members of the AMADC Board of Directors are no exception, we’ve also been busy ramping up activities for the year, building out our programming calendar, and developing new partnerships which will bring incremental value to your local membership. In addition, the Board is also preparing to come together for our first strategic planning retreat of the year where, among other things, we’ll be challenging ourselves to further define and live by the “AMADC Member Experience.” (we’ll talk more about what that means for you this fall at our annual All Member Meeting.)
You (our member) continue to be at the center of everything we seek to accomplish this year. Our recent member survey revealed that, year-over-year, 12% more members find their membership useful to their professional goals and feel a stronger connection to AMADC (a 24% increase year-over-year)—but there’s still much more to be done. The AMADC has rebuilt a strong reputation in the DC market. Our membership base remains solid, ranking us among the top 4 chapters across the nation. And, when it comes to events, AMADC’s robust programming calendar rivals some of the best professional development opportunities in the DC Metro area—with all eight of our defined series and signature programs focused on delivering unique opportunities for both knowledge and networking to further elevate the member experience.
Speaking of signature programs, I want to bring your attention to some immediate AMADC opportunities:
We are now accepting applications for our 2017-18 Mentor Program (kicking off in October). Learn more about the sought-after program and what it’s meant to past participants on the Mentor Program page and submit your application by Sept. 17 to get involved as a Protégé or a Mentor.
August 22: This month’s networker takes us to one of the iconic DC “power” spots as members are invited to The Occidental Grill & Seafood to experience their newly renovated main bar. (AMADC members get in free—just reserve your spot!)
Happy August!
