The Washington, DC Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s (AMADC) Nominating Committee is seeking nominations for individuals to serve on its Board of Directors. Except for the President-Elect, these terms are a 12-month commitment, beginning in July 2018, and finishing in June of the following year.  The President-Elect position automatically assumes the role of President during the 2019-20 term.

The AMADC Board consists of 18 officer positions, and numerous assistant officer level positions. In general, new candidates for the Board will be considered for Associate Vice President level positions, and candidates with prior Board experience will be considered for officer level positions.

The goal of this committee is to make the nomination process transparent and to increase the diversity and number of qualified applicants for our Board.

  • Qualifications: Interested parties must be members of the AMA and the Washington, DC Chapter and in good-standing, have sound marketing experience, availability to attend monthly board meetings and a willingness to commit an average 2-5 hours a week towards leading the chapter or otherwise as initiatives require.

  • Although primary applications for the 2018-19 Board term should be submitted by February 26th, applications are accepted year-round for consideration as openings become available due to relocations for example.

Nominating Positions:

Officer Positions:
President-Elect – effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019

Role and Responsibilities

The President-Elect shall automatically succeed to the Presidency at the end of the year following his/her election to the office of President-Elect. The President-Elect assists the President in the management of chapter affairs; assumes the responsibilities of the President in his/her absence or incapacity to serve; coordinates and directs the activities of all Vice Presidents on behalf of the President; and acts as chair of the chapter Nominating Committee.

VP of CMO Leadership Circle – effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for the driving the strategy and execution of our chapter’s CMO peer-to-peer group engagement by fostering CMO thought leadership and community-building while growing awareness through programming events and outreach.

VP of Membership Acquisition & Retention – effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for driving all programs through which the membership of this chapter can be maintained and expanded. Organizes and carries out an active recruiting program, uses official membership materials and procedures; track member retention; welcomes new chapter members; and, engage with prospective members.

VP of Volunteer Engagement – effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019

Role and Responsibilities

Focus on increasing the engagement level of all AMADC members. The position works with each board member to determine committee staffing needs and recruits members to fill such positions. Specific responsibilities include: creating an orientation program for volunteers to help position them for success; and, developing a recognition program—all in an effort to help augment chapter goals.

Associate Officer Positions:

Associate Secretary

Assist the Secretary/COO in researching and introducing efficient and effective systems to increase the productivity and streamline operations of the AMADC. measures and evaluates progress against the annual goals and will ensure a streamlined approach to AMADC operations.

Associate VP of Finance

Work with CFO to manage the financial affairs of the chapter. Specific responsibilities include preparing and submitting a preliminary budget; maintaining the financial accounts of the chapter; supervising payment of funds; preparing monthly final reports; and, making any investments as authorized by the Board

Associate VP of Marketing and Communications, DC Marketer

Serve as Editor-in-Chief for the chapter’s signature, monthly enewsletter: DC Marketer. Responsible for content development and working alongside other board members and committees to ensure membership, benefits, events, and more, are highlighted.

Associate VP of Membership Acquisition & Retention

Assist VP with organizing and carrying out an active recruiting program, as well as tracking member retention and engagement.

Associate VP of Volunteer Engagement

Assist the VP with increasing the engagement level of all AMADC members and work alongside board members to determine and recruit for committee staffing needs.

Associate VP of Research

With the VP of Research, conduct, analyze and offer insights from annual AMADC membership survey. Assist other VPs to ensure appropriate, well-targeted member offerings are created based on the survey results garnered.

Associate VP of Sponsorship

Alongside VP of Sponsorship, help to develop and grow strategic relationships between AMADC and DC community to enhance programming experiences and membership value.
