Note From the Board

The season of celebrating and giving is upon us and in that spirit; AMADC is holding its first Holiday Giving Party on December 14 as well as its first Philanthropy event of the year. Please join us as we give back to the community.

My first six months as President are almost history book but when I look back, I see the amazing things that the board and volunteer force were able to accomplish in a short amount of time. We hit a milestone reaching 90 new members during our fall campaign as well as hosting member’s only events with Tony Hsieh and Seth Godin. We launched our inaugural CMO roundtable with Forrester’s Josh Bernoff and have several more events planned with our industry partners in 2011. We also launched our new brand and continue to upgrade our website content and functionality.

Plus our stellar programming and networking continue to offer our audience a change to connect and grow in their person and professional careers 2011 promises to be a year of opportunity and promise. Please join us for the journey.

May you, your family, friends and colleagues have a festive, safe and restful holiday season as we ready for the New Year.

AMADC Holiday Giving Party
December 14, 2010
Join us for festive fun and good cheer as we ring in the holiday season with the spirit of giving on December 14 at Cure Bar & Bistro in DC.

Networking, Silent Auction, a bit of the bubbly and giving gifts– What a great way to celebrate! We’ll donate new and slightly used toys and books in support of two exceptional local nonprofits, Turning the Page and Safe Shores. These two respected and deserving organizations have been recognized by the Catalogue of Philanthropy as two of the best nonprofits in the D.C. area for their outstanding work in serving their communities.

We’ll also make a contribution to our scholarship fund to encourage and support a future generation of dynamic marketing professionals. A portion of the proceeds from the evening will benefit all three. So think books, toys, great conversation and a little holiday shopping.

About the Participating Local Nonprofits:
  • Turning the Page links D.C. public schools, families and our community so that together, we can ensure that D.C. students receive valuable educational resources and a high-quality public education.
  • Safe Shores' mission is to ensure the safety, health and well-being of abused and traumatized children in the District of Columbia by uniting the strengths of public, private and community partners.

Government SIG- Governmental Influences Affecting Marketing, Advertising, and Brand Management Strategies: What you need to know
January 20, 2011
Come join a lively discussion on governmental influences affecting marketing, advertising, and brand management strategies:
(a) current and pending federal legislation on privacy and what your company can do now;
(b) a one-stop place allowing your company to be pro-active rather than reactive by providing any piece of data that exists about the federal government and the corporations that work on its behalf, including how much money corporations have donated to political candidates, what government contracts they have been awarded, who the leading corporate officers are, and how to contact them; and,
(c) how one company tailors their marketing, advertising, and brand management campaigns in light of governmental influences.

Chapter Highlights

The AMADC is proud to deliver integrated, strategic and tactical marketing education on current trends and issues that apply to virtually any business or organization. Our monthly webinars and programming provide fresh insights, best practices and case studies delivered by recognized marketing leaders from a variety of companies.

On November 18, Nancy Shaffer, Founder & CEO of Bravo! Events by Design, led a brown bag seminar on the power of live events. In addition to identifying the differences between an Event Strategist and Event Planner, marketers learned how to maximize marketing opportunities and create long-term impact through strategic planning. Link to AMADC's YouTube channel, AMADCTV, to watch a short clip featuring Nancy Shaffer.

Are you one of the 85 million professionals on LinkedIn? Guided by Inc. Magazine's Internet Strategist, Maisha Walker, participants explored the powerful online networking tool and learned best practices during an encore webinar.

Mary Schoonmaker, consultant with Tagstone in Dubai and Ph. D candidate at The George Washington University School of Business, reviewed the 4 P’s of the marketing mix and walked marketers through the 5 steps of a strategic marketing plan over a lunch-hour webinar. Bonus: AMADC members can download pre-recorded versions of both webinars, in addition to other Chapter favorites, by logging-in to the members-only webinar archive.

Wrapping up the month of November, marketers gathered at Mon Ami Gabi French Bistro in Reston to mingle.

If the hustle and bustle of the holiday season kept you from attending these great events, fear not – AMADC has lots in store for 2011.
