Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in becoming more involved with the American
Marketing Association – DC Chapter! The association is almost all
volunteer-driven so we appreciate all the help we can get from our
members. We know your time is valuable so we have many different
levels of involvement you can take part in to match your schedule -
from one-time tasks to high-visibility director-level positions.

Committees you can be a part of:
Sponsorship
The Sponsorship committee is responsible for identifying and recruiting
corporate sponsors for the chapter. In addition, Sponsorship manages
the contracts for these donations (monetary and in-kind) and works with
Programming, Marketing Communications and Branding, and other relevant Board members
to ensure that the terms of the contracts are fulfilled.
Finance
The Finance committee is responsible for developing the Chapter’s
financial plan, managing income and expenses and assisting other Board
Members in the development and management of each committee’s budget.
Marketing Communications and Branding
The Marketing Communications and Branding committee is responsible for all external
communications on behalf of the Chapter. This includes advertising,
branding, collateral development, event promotion, newsletter
development, public relations, social media engagement and Web site
development/management. This committee works closely with Programming
and Membership to help communicate the Chapter’s value to a variety of
stakeholders, including current and potential members, current and
potential sponsors and the news media.
Membership
The Membership committee is responsible for the recruitment and
retention of AMADC members. To that end, the committee manages
membership drives, owns the membership database, organizes member
appreciation events, oversees the Member Benefits Program, manages the
Volunteer Program and works with the local collegiate community.
Committee members represent the Chapter at events and serve as points
of contact for current and potential members with questions or concerns
about the Chapter.
Chapter Philanthropy
The Philanthropy Initiative serves to promote a culture of giving
within the professional marketing community. It engages in fundraising
activities and administers the student scholarship, provides
inspirational speaker and networking events --and offers nonprofit
volunteer opportunities for our members to employ their professional
skills in meaningful community service.
Technology
The Technology committee is responsible for overseeing the technologies
required for the successful operation of the Chapter, including
database management and Web site development.
Programming and Networking
The Programming and Networking committees are responsible for planning
the various professional development and networking events offered by
the Chapter. This planning includes developing timely and relevant
topics of interest to the membership, securing speakers, locations and
food and beverage and serving as hosts of the event.

volunteer@amadc.org. Once
the form is received, the AMADC Membership Team will be in

Frequently Asked Questions about AMADC
Q: How much does a membership cost?
The first year of professional membership (the most common membership
type) is $225 for national membership (inlcluding a one time application fee of $30), plus an additional $65 for DC

Q: How do I join?
You may join online at www.amadc.org using the “become a member” link
or by calling national AMA at 800.AMA.1150.
Q: Can I join only the local chapter?
No. You must be a member of the national organization in order to
become a member of the local chapter.
Q: Does AMA offer group memberships?
Yes! Information on group memberships can be found on the AMA national

Q: How the heck do I locate my member number?
The simplest way to locate your member number is to contact AMA
Customer Service at 1-800-262-1150. If you provide them with you
contact information, they can easily provide you with your member
number over the phone.
Q: Can I transfer my membership to a colleague?
No. AMA memberships are held by an individual and are non-transferable.
Q: Can I transfer my AMA membership from one local chapter to another?
Yes. Contact AMA Customer Service at 1-800-262-1150 and tell them the
chapter to which you are transferring.
Q: Can I get a copy of the membership directory?
Yes. All members receive the membership directory when they join.
Q: How do I change my badge or membership contact information?
Changes to your contact information (e.g. company, title, address,
e-mail address, etc.) can be made in three ways.
- Log onto the AMA national website www.marketingpower.com to make
changes online.
- Send an email noting your changes to info@ama.org, including your first and
last name, as well as the local chapter to which you belong.
- Contact AMA customer service at 800.262.1150.
Q: How can I learn about upcoming events?
